How to get to Kalavryta?

If you prefer to drive to Kalavryta from Athens, you take the National Road from Athens to Patra. At the junction of Diakofto, just before you reach Aigio, you follow the signs to Kalavryta. The road trip from Athens to Kalavryta is 3 hours.

In order to reach Kalavryta from Athens, you need to take the KTEL bus with direction to Aigio from Kifissos bus station. KTEL buses connect Kalavryta with Patra and Aigio. A tourist train, known as the cog train, runs from Diakofto to Zachlorou and Kalavryta. This train operates on weekends and in National Holidays. The route is very scenic and this cog train is considered a historical attraction for the region.
