During the summer, there are more than 4 daily ferry routes from Athens to Mykonos. Expect to do a 2.5 to 6 hours trip, depending on the type of ferry you’re traveling with. Blue Star Ferries

Blue Star Ferries is one of the leading ferry companies in Greece. It serves itineraries from Athens to the Cyclades islands and the Dodecanese islands.

Every morning at 7.30 there is a ferry from Piraeus port, in Athens, to Mykonos. This ferry will get you to Mykonos in about 5 hours. This means that you’ll be at Mykonos, ready for your holidays, at 12.45! Before it reaches Mykonos, though, the ferry stops at the islands of Syros and Tinos.

 

SeaJets

Seajets ferries travel from Athens(Piraseus and Rafina) to Mykonos. There are 1-2 ferry routes from Rafina and Piraeus to Mykonos daily. More specifically, there is usually one ferry from Piraeus to Mykonos at 07:00 am arriving at 09:35 am in Mykonos, it is a speedboat which also has a garage. From Rafina to Mykonos they depart at 14:50, arriving at Mykonos at 17:00.

Then, Rafina port is the perfect option for you. Given that Rafina port is closer to Athens International Airport than Piraeus port, it is a more convenient choice. Several ferries from Rafina to Mykonos depart every day. The companies serving this itinerary are, apart from Seajets and Hellenic Seaways, Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries.

Traveling to Mykonos straight after arriving at the airport?
Then, Rafina port is the perfect option for you. Given that Rafina port is closer to Athens International Airport than Piraeus port, it is a more convenient choice. Several ferries from Rafina to Mykonos depart every day. The companies serving this itinerary are, apart from Seajets,there are also Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries.

 

Fast Ferries

Fast Ferries offers daily connections all around the year from Rafina to Mykonos with their conventional ships. Once a day during the winter and 2-3 times a day during the summer season starting from April.
During the summer months, they offer a connection with their newly acquired speed vessel Thunder, from Piraeus at 9am arriving in Mykonos at 12:30, passing via Syros.

 

Golden Star Ferries

Golden Star Ferries also offers daily connections all around the year from Rafina to Mykonos with their conventional vessel Superferry. Once a day during the winter time and 1-2 times a day between April and September.
During the summer months, also they offer a connection with their speedboat Superexpress, from Rafina at 7:15am arriving in Mykonos at 09:40 am, passing via Tinos. This will give you the opportunity to get really early on the island and spend your full day there.

 

How to book your ferry tickets from Athens to Mykonos

It is always a good idea to book your ferry tickets in advance, especially because July and August are the months when ferries are more likely to be overbooked. That’s why we recommend you pre-book your ferry tickets online.

After booking your ferry tickets online, you will receive a voucher with detailed information on how to get your e-ticket. If for any reason , you are not able to get your e-ticket, the voucher will also indicate specific ticket pick-up points of each company which are right in front of the vessel.

An alternative is to buy your ferry tickets at a travel agency. You can simply walk into a travel agency during your stay in Athens, ask for information about the routes and select the one that serves you.

 

Arriving at Mykonos Port

Traveling by ferry to Mykonos means you’ll arrive at Mykonos New Port, in the Tourlos area, 2 km away from Mykonos Town. Once you get there, you’ll have to get a taxi to your hotel . An alternative is to take a bus or your hotel’s bus, which will get you straight to your hotel in Mykonos!

Especially when travelling in high season taxis are overbooked and it is really hard to find one, it is suggested that you have your transportation pre booked so that you do not get stuck at the port.
