According to a recent announcement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles has agreed to return two very important ancient works to their birthplace, Greece, after 40 years of captivity.
These two historical objects constitute part of a marble relief and an inscription column. The marble relief, which dates from the 5th century, depicts a female figure standing next to her maid while the fragment from the inscription column has 65 lines of lyrics at its left side. The decision of the Getty Museum to return the antiquities shows the efforts of the ministry for the repatriation of all Greek antiquities in the country.
In fact, an agreement was signed confirming the engagement of both parties in fighting the illegal trade of antiquities, while the Paul Getty museum has committed to the ongoing preservation of the world art heritage.
