New York is hosting one of the most ancient and priceless treasure of artifacts belonging to the oldest and richest civilization of Europe from March 13 to September 13, 2008. Entitled, "From the Land of the Labyrinth: Minoan Crete, 3000 -1100 BC," the six-month long exhibition, organized by the Alexander S. Onassis foundation, is currently running at the Onassis Cultural Centre. The priceless Minoan artifacts on display, most of which have never before been displayed outside Greece, include gold jewelry, seals, votive figures, tools, weapons, engravings and frescoes, loaned from various Cretan museums, including the prestigious Heraklion Museum in Crete. The Onassis Foundation, which was founded by the famous Greek businessman Aristotle Onassis in memory of his deceased son, regularly conducts Greek-themed exhibitions in New York City.
