International Film Festival 2009

Celebrating its 50th anniversary amd with the motto Why Cinema Now?, the International Film Festival of Thessaloniki, one of the most important film festivals in the world, will take place this year from the 13th until 22nd of November and it will include presentations of films from all the globe, tributes to certain directors, open discussions, parallel events and of course famous guests of modern cinema. Among them, the pioneer German  director Werner Herzog, Goran Paskaljevic, the ex President of the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences and producer Sidney Ganis, the actress Jane Birkin,  composer Alexandre Desplat, Jeremy Thomas and many more. In the official competitive program, 15 films of international directors will claim the Gold and the Silver Alexander award. The opening film will be the "Soul kitchen" by Fatih Akin and the curtain will fall with the film "Les herbes folles" by Rene Allen.
