Eptapyrgio Festival 2024

Jun 05, 2024 — Jul 23, 2024 • Category: Events

Marking the sixth year since its establishment in 2019, the Eptapyrgio Festival is returning between June 5th and July 23rd, 2024 with 15 brilliant performances that bring together 270 artists. Held in the courtyard of the Thessaloniki Castle, the Festival aims to make one of the most significant monuments of the city accessible to the wider public and constitutes the biggest cultural event in Central Macedonia.

This year’s events center around women and the central role they have always played in art, which has supported, adored, or idealized her. They pay tribute to her as a victim of oppression, but also as a person who struggles, as a creator and an artist.

Visitors will have a unique chance to enjoy a variety of music genres, ranging from opera to Greek entekhno music. The Festival opens with a night dedicated to the celebrated composer Evanthia Reboutsika, taking the audience on a magical journey that fuses melodies of the East and the West, while the next events boast the participation of such household names as Mario Frangoulis, Giota Negka, Dimitra Galani, and Margarita Zorbala. Other performances that stand out include Ruggero Leoncavallo’s opera I Pagliacci and a poetry night inspired by the work of the great Andalusian artist Federico Garcia Lorca.
