52nd International Film Festival

With a new look and focusing on independent cinema produce, this year, the 52nd Thessaloniki International Film Festival invites both audience and filmmakers to participate in this special celebration that will take place from November 4th to November 13th, 2011.Β Films from all over the world, cinematic surprises, important guests, tributes, master classes, panel discussions and many other events constitute this 10-day festival dedicated to the art of cinema. More than 20 Greek language films will be screened, while 12 of them will premiere.

A special part of the film festival is dedicated to the Balkan filmmakers focusing on the talent of Erden Kiral, a Turkish director who has already been listed as one of the most successful filmmakers of the 1970s and 1980s. The festival will host many of his films as well as a documentary for the multicultural life of Istanbul, his latest work. The festival will present films from Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and other Balkan countries. The International Film Festival of Thessaloniki is the most important film festival in south-eastern Europe. Since it became international in 1992, the festival has achieved a worldwide recognition leading to the birth of important cultural activities.
