It was in 1926 when Leonidas Hamodrakas opened a restaurant in Kalamaria, in the same location as today. Being the oldest restaurant in the town, offers wonderful fish recipes and in fact it has been given the Greek cuisine mark for its delicious dishes.

Taverna 1901 is located in Ladadika, the most popular nightlife spot in Thessaloniki. It works all day, serving coffee in the morning and meals the rest of the day. The interior decoration is traditional and a fireplace warms the atmosphere in winter evenings.

The bronze statue of Alexander the Great on his famous horse Bucephalus, located at the waterfront (Nea Paralia) of Thessaloniki. The monument was sculptured by Evangellos Moustakas in 1974 and with 6.15m in height, it is the largest statue in Greece. Seen are also the formidable sarissas (or sarisa) the famous 4-6m in length spear or pike that was used in Macedonian phalanxes.
