The region of Macedonia is located on the northern side of the country. This is the largest prefecture of Greece and as you can see on our map of Macedonia, along with Thrace, it covers almost all the northern parts. Macedonia is a region that has not opened to tourism yet but remains restricted to the local economy.
The most tourist places for summer holidays in Macedonia are Halkidiki, Pieria, and Kavala. The region also provides many beautiful places and ski centers for winter holidays, but visitors are mostly Greeks.
The largest town of Macedonia and second-largest town in Greece in Thessaloniki. This town has a busy airport with domestic and world connections particularly in summer, serving as a transportation hub for northern Greece.
