Sani Festival 2014

The famous Sani Festival is returning with many interesting jazz performances, Greek concerts, cinema projections and avant garde theatre performances. Events will take place from July 11th to August 14th at the Sani Hill, this fantastic hilltop location above the village of Sani in Halkidiki.

Privately organized with the initiative of the Sani Resort, this festival is a multi-cultural event that started for the first time in 1993 and has already entered its 22nd year of presentation. Sections of the festival include Jazz on the Hill, Sounds of the World, Greek Variations, Classical Waves, Avant Garde Theatre, Cine Breeze and more.

Here are the events of the Sani Festival 2014:

July 11th, Terri Lyne Carrington, at 21:30, Sani Hill
The Grammy-winning female drummer is coming to the Sani Festival to present the continuation of her work The Mosaic Project, an album that was first released in July 2011.

July 12th, Terence Blanchard and TSS Orchestra, at 21:30, Sani Hill
A Jazz Symphony Project: Terence Blanchard with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stefanos Tsialis

July 13th, Nikolas Anadolis Trio, at 21:30, Sani Hill
A wonderful jazz concert with Nikolas Anadolis (piano), Oliver Lutz (bass) and Jonas Burgwinkel (drums).

July 19th, The myths of Athena, at 21:30, Sani Hill
The Greek signer Athena presents songs from Bod Dylan and Leonard Cohen to Manos Hatzidakis.

July 26th, Alpha Movie, at 21:30, Sani Hill
An innovative cinematic performance inspired by the myth of Antigone, a post-modern version of the Ancient Greek drama.

August 1st, Russian Short Films, at 21:30, Garden Theatre
Tribute to Russian Art and Culture

August 2nd, The Squafts, at 21:30, Sani Hill
The performance The Squafts by the Kinetic Theatre of Moscow, directed and choreographed by Sasha Pepelyaev

August 6th, Kostis Maraveyas, at 21:30, Garden Theatre
The famous Greek signer Kostis Maraveyas and his band will bring energy and joy to the festival.

August 9th, From Tsitsanis to Theodorakis, at 21:30, Sani Hill
The musicians of the orchestra Mikis Theodorakis will sing timeless Greek songs, dating from the time of the rebetiko music player Vassilis Tsitsanis until the world-famous composer Mikis Theodorakis.

August 14th, Eleftheria Arvanitaki- a tribute to Greek Cinema, at 21:30, Sani Hill
The famous Greek singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki will perform accompanied by the songwriter Nikos Portokaloglou and the composer Nikos Kipourgos.
