Festival of Saint Christoforos

The festival of Agios Christoforos will be held on his name day, May 9th, in the village of Taxiarchis, central Halkidiki. Taxiarxhis is a mountainous village, whose inhabitants deal mostly with the cultivation of firs trees to be used in Christmas. This lovely village is popular for winter vacations and its architecture is traditional. In the paved, round square of the village, the inhabitants will organize a feast on May 9th in the evening to honour their saint. The feast includes eating traditional food and dancing till the early hours. Participation is always high.
