With twenty creative years behind it and new logo, a beating heart, the Sani Festival is now entering a new age, full of renewed energy and inexhaustible passion for the arts. For one more year, the Sani Hill will be filled with the wonderful music of international and Greek artists.
The Jazz on the Hill program will feature prominent female vocalists, including the sensational China Moses, daughter of the famous jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater (July 12th), Cassandra Wilson (July 13th), Madeleine Peyroux (July 14th) and the Belgian composer Myriam Alter (July 20th).
The Greek music program with feature artists with a distinctive personal style. Savina Yannatou and Lena Platonos will present a range of works, from Mediterranean music to compositions by the Greek Manos Hatzidakis (July 27th), while Dimitris Maramis will present a composition of Erotokritos, inspired by the work of Medieval Cretan writer Vincenzo Cornaro (August 3rd). Few days later (August 10th), the Greek singers Manolis Mitsias, Aphrodite Manou and Yannis Miliokas will close the section with a concert titled Songs that last.
Apart from musical concerts, this year the Sani Festival will include a two-day tribute (August 15th and 16th) to the best short films that were awarded in the Thessaloniki International Short Film Festival. Finally, the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki and its conductor Alexandros Myrat will present (August 17th) various operas of Verdi with distinguished opera singers.
