Many panigiria and cultural festivals take place in Halkidiki all year round, but the majority of festivals take place in summer.
Religious feasts & festivals
In early September, there is the feast of Agios Mamas in the homonimus village of Halkidiki. This festival lasts for one week and includes a trade fair, concerts of traditional music and other events.
Established in 1992, Sani Festival has become among the most important summer festivals in Halkidiki. It includes musical concerts, theatre performances, lectures and many art exhibitions.
The Carnival of Polygiros is very popular in Halkidiki and includes treasure hunts, parade and other events. Carnival celebrations are organized in many villages of the region.
Every year, in late June/ early July, the International Swimming Crossing of Torones Gulf is organized. Skilled swimmers and called to swim a distance of 26 km. The departure point is Kallithea Beach and the crossing finishes in Nikiti.
The Festival of Kassandra takes place from early July to late September at the Theatre of Siviri. The programme features many interesting arts events, with emphasis on musical concerts and performances of ancient Greek drama.
