General information

Hanioti beach Halkidiki: This lovely holiday resort is located 64 km south east of Poligiros, the main town of Halkidiki and is a very popular destination for couples and families. The beach is long with rough sand but the water is amazingly clear and warm. Along the coast you will find many tourist facilities and water sports options. Around the resort lie many fish taverns and cafes. The beach is partly organized so you will definitely find some secluded spots to relax.

    Happy place
I went on a holiday to Halkidiki with my cousin last October and stayed at a selfcatering accommodation at the quiet resort of Hanioti. At just 3 minutes from the beach, the place was perfect with the shops and lively part of the beach at a comfortable distance so that it didn't get too noisy in the evenings. The apartment had two big pools, and being off season, we nearly had the pool to ourselves most of the time. The beach was more shingles than sand, but the water was warm and nice with lots of jelly fish about. It cost us £3 approx for a sun bed, and every now and then, vendors selling refreshing drinks, or coconut or doughnuts would amble along.

The beachside was the best place for eating out, and that's precisely what we did for most of our meals. Most restaurants were traditional Grek taverns and we loved the food. The Greek salads were simply superb and a must try. We had a car with us and used to drive in the close villages. Sani and Pefkohori also had beautiful beaches but I believe Haniotis was the best. I am glad we stayed there out of all Halkidiki. If we had gone a couple of weeks earlier, we would have caught up a nice beach party for the end of the summer.

On the way back, we stayed three nights in Thessaloniki, a lively town, the second largest in Greece. We loved shopping there and going to bars at night. People seem so happy in Greece, although I have heard too about the economical problems, but I am sure that things will get better soon.
