stepbbr 16 Mar 2009Drink ouzo by the beachI go to Halkidiki almost every spring. I usually go on spring because it is more calm, only the locals and a few early tourists, but things are kept quiet. Hotels are also cheaper that time, as high season has not started (it starts in mid June in Greece). I have been to many resorts in Halkidiki but Gerakini is my best. It is almost in the centre of Halkidiki, so you can do many daily excursions to the area. The beach of Gerakini is sandy and clean. Not only the sea but also the coast is clean as the locals take good care of it. Over the years, I have made many friends there and each time I go, we will meet for an ouzo at the taverns by the beach.

sofbu 27 Jan 2009Relaxing resort for familiesHalkidiki is beautiful, the beaches are long and sandy, nightlife is excellent. I didn't visit historical monuments, wanted to go to Athos but I was with my girlfriend and no women are allowed there. People are very pleasant and helpful in need. I stayed in a hotel in Gerakini this year. The local beach was great because there weren't so many people. I also played some tennis in local club and visited the waterworld on the beach. Gerakini is great for relaxation and Kallithea for nightlife. Gerakini is great for couples and families. It is still developing and in a few years it will be awesome.

steinoff 27 Nov 2007Gerakini is less touristified than other placesWe were invited to a wedding in Thessaloniki and spent an additional week. The beaches are great, and the area in general is friendly. We stayed in Geraniki which is less "touristified" than other places in the area, and we liked that. Historical places were very interesting, but sometimes difficult to find. We very much enjoyed the local tavernas, and the food was great. A very positive experience. Also the coffee shops and bars were very good.
