Zakynthos Keri Village
Keri Zakynthos: The traditional village of Keri is located 21 km south west of Zakynthos Town, on the top of a verdant hill. It counts on 700 inhabitants most of whom are engaged in agriculture and farming. It is a quiet and charming village that retains a strong traditional character with many stone built houses and narrow streets. The most charming part of the village is the central square from where you can enjoy superb views of the Ionian Sea. The village has largely escaped the growth of tourism unscathed and there are just a couple of cafes here.
Panagia Keriotissa is the main church of the village with an impressive bell tower. That church stands bellow the village and houses an icon that locals believe that it has miraculous powers. Boats are connected to the nearby island of Marathonisi and the sea caves of Zakynthos. The main port of Keri is Limni, only 5 km from the village. It is a shelter for many fishing boats and yachts. The main beach is quite busy and due to the small space it gets easily cramped. There is a diving centre.
