Zakynthos Limnionas beach

Limnionas Zakynthos: The village of Agios Leon lies a few kilometers from the bay and is a nice village, largely unspoilt by tourism. From here the road weaves down to the coast and it is a pleasant journey with the road bordered by heather. At the bay there is a large carpark at the top and from here there is a walk down a path carved from the rock. Journeying down you get an excellent view of the bay which is roughly u-shaped with plenty of nooks, crannies and small caves.

There is no sand at all here at Limnionas bay and people who are not bathing try and find a space on the rocks. A platform has been created and there are a couple of shack like constructions. Looking out from here the rock faces are white and the waters a beautiful blue.

As the above pictures clearly show, this area should not be listed as a beach. Nevertheless it is a very attractive area where swimming is a pleasure. A walk from Porto Limnionas to Porto Roxa give you some wonderful views of the sea and the surrounding inland landscape. In the right season it is also the perfect location to enjoy a rich variety of flowers along the coast.
