Gyri in Zakynthos: Gyri is one of the highest and oldest villages in Zakynthos, established in the 15th century. Its permanent population does not exceed 30 people. Located at an altitude of about 550 meters above sea level, in the center of the island, it offers spectacular views of the surrounding nature. Nearby you will find the Hayiotis (or Xagiotis) Cave which is 60 meters deep with beautiful rock formations.
Gyri is a very tranquil and rural village, like most villages on the western coast of Zante. Do not miss the old church with the paved path in front. Gyri is a fine place to relax, meditate and feel one with nature. The top of Mount Vrachionas with its 753 meters above sea level can be reached on foot from the village.
