The permanent inhabitants and the visitors of Paxi island are going to face a major problem, as the branch of the Agricultural Bank of Greece, the only bank that exists on the island, may close due to unsuitability of the building. The local authorities, instead of repairing the building, are thinking about moving the bank to the opposite island of Corfu.
Such an action will certainly have a bad effect for the 3,000 residents of Paxi, who will have to go to Corfu to get their pensions, salaries or make any bank transfer. However, it will also cause trouble to the 10,000 tourists a month that visit the island every summer.
