Donkey Rock Festival

Two days in Meganisi are enough to introduce you to the powerful rhythms of rock and heavy metal. The Donkey Rock Festival first opened its doors in 2010 aiming to promote the work of new bands and artists. This festival is a non profit event which will take place in Vathy under the auspices of the Municipality of Meganisi. This year, the festival includes a strong line up of young artists who are ready to offer memorable experiences. Friday, July 29th Kontomaniko Blues: This band was created by a group of friends out of their passion and love for music. They began their musical journey in 2008 from Ioannina presenting a plethora of good songs to the public. Kontomaniko Blues will open the festival. Mr Highway: Mr. Highway (Johnny) is a young artist who spent two years in writing songs. After he completed the recording session in the studio, he is now ready to present his songs to us. His influences go back to the rock, jazz and blues sounds of the 1960s and the 1970s. Crazy Cow: Formed in 2008 in Ioannina, this promising band carries influences from blues, punk and rockabilly. They have already made a demo with 8 songs and have many lives in their energetic. The band consists of three members. Stichovoli: Stichovoli arrives from the town of Ioannina. The band was created in 2010 carrying a lot of influences from the Greek tradition as well as rock and blues sounds. They have already participated at the "Greek Song Guitar Contest 2009". V.I.C (Villagers of Ioannina City): V.I.C. is a band that has successfully managed to combine the rock sounds of the 1970s with the traditional music. What we are about to hear is a mix of traditional sounds of Epirus with modern adaptations of today. Recently, they recorded a promo with 6 songs with unique style. Saturday, July 30th Blodrod: Formed by a group of young artists, the alternative progressive metal band is here to present us a new sound. Level3Three: Level 3Three is a four member music band from Orchomenos, Central Greece. Their influences come from the rock, garage, alternative, Greek and international music scene. They recorded their first single in 2008. White Raven: White Raven is a heavy metal band from Patra with many trash, power and progressive music elements. They have already recorded one demo ever since they joined together, in 2009. Black Mamba: The three member band from the island of Chios will make a powerful stage appearance in the festival of Meganisi with instrumental progressive fusion metal sounds. Therapillusion is the title of their first record that received great reviews. The visitors will have the chance to enjoy unique compositions and melodies. Holy Oath: Holy Oath is a heavy metal band from Patra. They had their first live 6 years ago, while recently they got into the studio to prepare their first CD entitled “Run to Reach the Sun”.
