5th Green Lefkada Half Marathon

The 5th Green Half Marathon in Lefkada, one of the fastest races and most important athletic events in the Ionian islands, is taking place on Sunday, May 17th, 2015. It is organized by the Athletic Club Filandros and Municipality of Lefkada, and includes the Half Marathon, a 5km Race and a 1,000m Race for school students.
The route, certified by AIMS-IAAF, is flat and passes through places of sheer beauty and great ecological significance, including the Lagoon of Lefkada, which is protected by the Natura Treaty. All races start and finish at the Beach Park of Lefkada Town and go around the town and the close beach of Gira. Starting time for Half Marathon and 5km Race is 9:00 am and 9:10 am respectively, while the Road Race for school students starts at 11:45.
Throughout the race, participants will be offered bottled water and sports drinks at the support stations every 2,5 km. The race will be electronically timed and the 3 men and 3 women who finish first will be awarded. A commemorative medal and participation diploma will also be given to all runners who reach the ending point. Apart from the races, the event also includes a Pasta Party with free entrance for runners and volunteers.
Attendants from all around the world are welcome to join this spectacular event. Applications may be submitted until May 10th, 2015.
