I stayed in this villa in Aug 2010 and would recommend it as it was good value for money. Kostas and his family were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I truly cannot say enough nice things about them. You will not find nicer people on this beautiful island!
As for the villa itself, it's position just outside of Lefkada town meant we relied a lot on taxis back and forth (6 EUR a trip) into town for food etc as Aghios Ioannis is a quiet location with not much other than the beach and other villas. We found one taverna, which was not of the quality of the ones in town. If you don't wish to hire a car or scooter, a reasonably priced bus runs to most of the nicer beaches to the north of the island, so a round trip to Kathisma for 2 cost us about 24 EUR for 2 people, including taxis to the bus station. The beach outside can get quite windy at times, which makes for great watersports but also some great waves, so if you have really small children, this could be a problem.
The rooms were incredibly clean and we had no issues with air con, bathroom etc. The view is every bit as good as the photos. There's plenty of room for parking and an enclosed grassy garden with picnic tables at the back. The rooms each had a fridge, tv (not that we used it!) and some basic cooking facilities eg hob ring, saucepan, cutlery and crockery, but the food on the island is so good there's no need to cook!
The biggest plus point of this villa over others is definitely the people involved. Having spoken to others who stayed elsewhere on the island, Kostas is clearly a gem of an owner, who takes great pride in his business and knows good customer service. Some of the bigger places may have pools or cocktail bars but Villa Ioli doesn't need gimmicks to keep people coming back.
