Kythira Agia Pelagia

General information

Agia Pelagia Village Kythira: Agia Pelagia is one of the oldest villages of Kythira located 26 km north of Chora, the capital of the island. Until the 1950s, this village was basically a fishing hamlet with a nice wharf and small houses. Till few years ago, Agia Pelagia was the main port of Kythira, serving ferries that cover short distances from Neapolis, a lovely town of Peloponnese. Today, the main port is Diakofti.

Today the beautiful coastal settlement is considered a well-reputed tourist spot, with a great choice of hotels, restaurants and fish taverns overlooking the port. Visitors can enjoy many of the island's local delicacies in the traditional pastry shops.

The village lies around a delightful crystal bay which is the closest beach for swimming and sunbathing. Nearby you will find many cafes. In close distance from the centre are numerous exquisite beaches with crystalline waters and enchanting landscape that constitute remarkable tourist attractions. It is really worth visiting Firi Ammos, Lorenzou and Lagada beach.

Occasionally, there are excursion boats from Agia Pelagia to the island of Elafonissos, famous for its exotic water and the laidback atmosphere.
