Panagia Myrtidiotissa Feast 2019

Panagia Myrtidiotissa’s Name Day is Kythira’s most important religious festival!
The Icon of Panagia is in the monastery church of Myrtidia (myrtles), located in the south-western part of the island.
The divine liturgy on September 24th is quite impressive, with more than 1000 visitors. During this day the Myrtidiotissa icon is carried in procession around the monastery grounds, preceded by a fanfare from the band of Potamos. Afterward, coffee, soft drinks, and homemade sweets are offered to the visitors.
