The Nautical Museum of Fiscardo in Kefalonia: The Nautical and Environmental Museum of Fiscardo is run by Fiscardo Nautical and Environmental Club (FNEC), a non-profit organization. Although FNEC as an organization doesn't work anymore, the project has been handled by Fiscardo Divers and it is being continued with much enthusiasm.

This museum was formed with the help of volunteers from all around the world and in collaboration with the Ionian Research Centre. Its primary objective is to develop the sensitivity of the people towards the nautical environment and to promote actions on environmental protection.

The museum is housed in the former primary school of Fiscardo, which was repaired and renovated for this purpose. The exhibits include pictures of monk seals, Caretta Caretta turtles, whales, invertebrates, insects and plankton of the area. The museum has also created a radio station that broadcasts regionally and informs people on environmental issues.

How to get there

The Nautical Museum is located in Fiscardo village.

By Public transfers: The central bus station of the island is located at Argostoli. There are buses from Argostoli to Fiscardo during the day. Consider that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here.
Tip: Since buses don’t always stop in every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination, so that he makes a stop there.
