A young whale, from the very few of its kind that still remain in the Ionian Sea, was found dead last Friday in the Bay of Sami, Kefalonia Island. She is 15,5 meters long and she doesn't shows signs of injuries, so as her death conditions to be estimated .
Scientists from the Archipelagos Institute are about to arrive in Kefalonia and they are going to search for the whale's causes of death.
Searcher Thodoris Tsibidis, the Institute's director, says that those causes vary. "They usually crash with some ship. Less are the cases of trophic poisoning, while incidents of deadly injury during the Navy’s exercises have also been recorded", he adds.
