Kymata Film Festival 2024
Taking place between August 25 and September 1 in a beautiful seaside location of Argostoli, the 3rd International Film Festival of Kefalonia promises unforgettable summer nights for all cinema lovers.
Audiences will have the chance to watch a series of film screenings, as well as to meet select guest speakers from the Greek and Italian artistic world. The focus of this year’s festival will be on the past and contemporary Italian cinema, with a four-day tribute that will feature the prominent Italian director Marco Amenta, as well as Marco Morricone —son of the brilliant composer Ennio Morricone— who will talk on his father’s life and work on the occasion of Giuseppe Tornatore’s 2021 engrossing documentary Ennio. It will also offer viewers a unique opportunity to watch rare short documentaries filmed by Vittorio de Seta in the 1950s, presenting people’s everyday lives and customs in Sicily and Sardinia during the post-war years.
For the very first time, the festival will also launch an international short film competition for fiction and documentary, while screenings will be complemented by concerts and photography exhibitions. At the same time, drama and documentary masterclasses will be held by acclaimed actors and directors, such as Avra Georgiou, Periklis Hoursoglou and Alexandros Logothetis.
