General information

Antisamos Beach is arguably one of the most favorable destinations for swimming and sunbathing in Kefalonia. It is located 30.6 km east of Argostoli and pretty close to the port of Sami. Antisamos stands out for its natural beauty which consists of turquoise waters and a marvelous surrounding of green hills and lush vegetation on top of it. It is this stunning scenery that characterizes this area and captivates all visitors.

A beach like this could be nothing but well-organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. Two beach bars serve the guests, while watersport facilities are also part of the beach. Behind the hill, there is a great spot for sunbathers and nature lovers. Apart from the beach which is considered a beautiful sightseeing itself, the lovely Monastery of Agrillion stands on top of the hill.

Antisamos has gained a worldwide reputation from the Hollywood movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin, where some of the scenes were filmed there.

The beach is easily accessed from a coastal road in Sami.

Scenes from hollywood film shot there

It was about 3 years ago when with few friends we visited Antisamos. The village was beautiful, cool climate, and a very cute beach. We could sit for whole hours there, on that soft sand. We ate in a couple of restaurants with good food and good views to the sea. The quality was ok, though service was a bit slow. I have noticed that this is the case in Greece generally, waiters are not that pushed to hurry up. I guess this is a way of life in the Greek islands, part of their charm!

The beach was beautiful with steep slopes all round. A car park was found on one side of the beach, but no other parking lot. So we had to put up with that. The beach was very clean and we found lots of pebbles all over the beach. The water was pretty blue and clean. We could get some sunbeds also from a taverna there.

Maybe few people know but in Antisamos some scenes from "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" were filmed, so this alone gives good reason to visit!
