Polis Beach Ithaca: Polis bay is pretty close to the village of Stavros and 18 km north of Vathy, the capital of Ithaca. Polis is a beautiful pebbled beach with clear turquoise waters shimmering under the Mediterranean sun. The lack of tourist facilities is something that characterizes this virgin sight. The vast lush green area is a chance for natural shade. There is a small cantine serving cold drinks.
On the north side of the bay is a magnificent cave, the Loizos Cave, where excavations have proved that it used to be a worship temple for the gods during ancient times. Polis Bay combines a refreshing swim with an interesting visit to the nearby archeological sites.
