Hellenic seaways ferries

The Hellenic Seaways maritime company was founded in November, 1999 and its itineraries connect Piraeus and the islands of Cyclades, Saronic and Sporades. It has 35 vessels of various types.

Highspeed Ferries

Hellenic seaways owes 5 highspeed vessels. The oldest one was built in 1996 and the youngest one in 2005, at shipyards in the Netherlands and Australia. They are all catamaran- passenger/vehicle ferries and can carry hundreds of passengers and vehicles to Cyclades islands, Greece.

Flying cats Ferries

They were in built in the 1990s in Norway, Australia, Singapore and England. There are 6 flying cats that connect Piraeus to Cyclades, Sporades and Saronic islands. They carry only passengers, not vehicles, and do not have cabins because the trip lasts only for a few hours.

Conventional ferries

Nissos Chios: This ferry was constructed in 2007 in Greece and it is the newest vessel of all Greek maritime companies. It can reach a maximum speed of 28.4 miles/hour and offers its 1,800 passengers a safe and comfortable trip.

Nissos Mykonos: It was built in 2005 and covers the itinerary Piraeus- Chios- Mitilini in remarkable short time. In particular, it arrives at Chios island in 6 hours and at Mitilini island in 8.30 hours.

Ariadne: This ferry was originally built in 1996 and refitted in 2007. It carries 1,860 passengers to the Greek islands in comfort and luxury.

Express Santorini: Built in 1974 in Japan, this ferry carries 1,950 passengers, 210 vehicles, while it also carries supplies to the residents of the islands.

Express Pegasus: It was built in 1977 in Italy and runs with 20 miles/ hour.

Express Skiathos: This ship carries 1,390 passengers and 184 vehicles. It was constructed in Greece in 1996.

Poseidon Hellas: It was also built in Greece, in 1998 and develops a speed of 18 miles/hour.

Artemis: It was constructed in Greece in 1997 and carries 1,250 passengers.

Nefeli: This ship was built in Japan in 1990. It has a capacity for 1,250 passengers and 125 vehicles.

Apollo Hellas: This is the company’s smaller ferry. It was built in Greece in 1990, can carry 1,500 passengers and 98 vehicles and speeds with 16 miles/hour.

Hellenic Seaways proposes Greek ferries to most islands all over Greece, and in particular:

Cyclades

Vessels leave from the ports of Piraeus and Rafina and go to the Cycladic islands of Tinos, Syros, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini.

Crete

It connects the port of Heraklion Crete to the Cycladic islands of Santorini, Ios, Paros and Mykonos. These itineraries are valid mostly in tourist period.

Eastern Aegean

Vessels leave from Piraeus and go to Ikaria, Samos, Chios and Lesvos.

Sporades

Vessels connect the port of Agios Konstantinos, Central Greece, and Volos to the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.

Saronic

Vessels connect the port of Piraeus to Aegina, Agistri, Poros, Methana, Hydra, Ermioni, Spetses and Porto Heli.
