Although holidays in Greece are mainly connected to summertime, the truth is that winter in Athens can offer a magnificent holiday experience. The weather is not cold but moderate thanks to the Mediterranean climate and this permits long sightseeing walks. Also visiting Athens in off season gives a good view of authentic Greek lifestyle. Apart from sightseeing and shopping in Athens, we have included in this package a day tour to Delphi, one of the most important archaeological sites in mainland Greece, and also a mini cruise to the Saronic islands, the closest islands to the Greek capital.

Morning bus sightseeing tour in Athens. See the Classical, Roman and Neoclassical monuments of a city that counts 3,000 years of history. Visit the marvelous Rock of the Acropolis with the temple of Parthenon, the Propylea, the temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion on top. Also visit the Temple of Olympic Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium were the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896, the Neoclassical trilogy on Panepistimiou Ave and the Hellenic Parliament. After the tour, you can visit (optional) the New Acropolis Museum (Mondays closed) and see the wonderful findings from excavations on the Acropolis Hill. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Athens.
Early morning transfer to the port to embark your small cruise ship for the full day cruise to the islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra.
First, you arrive on the small island of Hydra, a very picturesque place with grey stone mansions built amphitheatrically on the hills surrounding the port. Hydra with its beauty is a muse for painters and photographers. Motor vehicles are totally prohibited on the island and the only transportation means is on foot or by donkey. In wintertime, the weather is sunny but not hot enough to swim. Instead, you will enjoy long walks along the seaside paved paths of Hydra.
In early afternoon, you sail for the island of Aegina, passing through the narrow strait between Peloponnese and the island of Poros. We do not stop in Poros, but you will see the lovely town from very close distance from the sea. Lunch is served on board on the way to Aegina. The island of Aegina has a lively port town to stroll around. As it will be wintertime, tourists will be very few and you will have the chance to enjoy a small vibrant Greek town in all its authentic beauty.
Arrival in Athens in the evening and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Athens.
Shopping Experience in McArthurGlen Designer Outlet. Transfer to the shopping centre (about 45 min drive from the city centre). This is a two-storey, open-air centre designed in Neoclassical style and with flowered boulevards, giving the sense of walking in a picturesque neighborhood of Athens. This 21,000 sq.m. centre hosts 110 stores, cafes and restaurants with all the famous brands. Afternoon at leisure.
Start your evening Athens by Night tour with a panoramic drive through the illuminated city centre. You get off at the picturesque quarter of Plaka and walk through the narrow pedestrian streets. You dine in a typical Greek restaurant with delicious dishes plus floor folklore show with live music and group of dancers in traditional costumes. Overnight in Athens.
Drive to Delphi (about 3 hours drive from Athens) through the lovely mountainous town of Arachova, a popular winter destination in Greece. Located on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece.
See the temple of Apollo, the Ancient Theatre, the Stoa of the Athenians, the Ancient Stadium where the Pythian Games would take place, the Gymnasium and the Temple of Athena Pronea. Inside the temple of the Apollo, there was a large stone symbolizing the Naval of the Earth, as Delphi was believed to be the centre of the Universe, and the seat of Pythia.
Pythia was the high-priestess of the temple of Apollo, the most famous oracle of the ancient world. When a pilgrim was coming to ask for a prophecy, Pythia would chew laurel leaves and god Apollo would speak his words through her.
Very interesting is also the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, just next to the ancient site. This museum hosts findings from the excavations. The most impressive exhibits are the Bronze Statue of the Charioteer, the gigantic Sphinx of Naxos and two twin Kouros (male) statues.
After the visit to the ancient site, we have dinner in a delicious traditional tavern in the modern village of Delphi. Return in Athens late in the evening. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Athens.
