Greek cities

Greece is a peninsular country located on the southeastern side of Europe and the southern side of the Balkans. Although Greece has a large coastline with many Greek islands, it mostly has a mountainous landscape.
The country is divided into regions and islands groups that are organized into prefectures. Main Greek cities are mostly located on the mainland.

The capital of the country and the largest of all cities in Greece is Athens, with a population of about 4,5 million. Athens is busy with tourists all year round and from the three ports of Attica (Piraeus, Rafina, Lavrion) ferries to all Aegean islands depart.
Thessaloniki is the second-largest of the cities in Greece with a population of about 1 million and then follows Patra with a population of about 250,000. Heraklion in Crete, Ioannina, Larissa, and Volos are also large cities in Greece and trade centers of the country.
