Throughout the year the island of Lemnos celebrates various religious and non-religious feasts where visitors can taste the strong local flavors with traditional music and dances.

August 15th
On the 15th of August, at the Assumption of the Virgin, there are celebrations in every corner of Lemnos.

June 22nd
On the 22nd of June, the Feast of Agios Ioannis is celebrated at the village of Kaspakas. Locals are lighting fires in order to burn the wreaths of the first day of May. Those wreaths are called kakanoures. A big feast is organized after the burning with dancing, singing, drinking and eating all night long.

July 20th
On the 20th of July, the island celebrates Prophet Elias. A ceremony is held at the small church dedicated to the saint in Therma.

Panagia Kakaviotissa
The church of Panagia Kakaviotissa celebrates on Tuesday after Easter and is an important feast for the island. Many people go to this small church on foot through a 20min walk dirt road.
