Festival of Philippi-Thassos 2013

This year, the 56th Festival of Philippi-Thassos is dedicated to the town of Kavala, celebrating the 100 years since its liberation, and to the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy, for the 150 years since its birth. Events will take place in the Ancient Theatre of Philippi, the Castle of Kavala, the Ancient Theatre of Thassos, schoolyards, cafes and other venues of the region. The schedule of the festival is as follows:

Celebrating the 100 years from the liberation of Kavala, the amateur group Fairy-tellers (Paramythades) presents a performance that will take place inside an old suburban bus.

Peace (play) by Aristophanes in the Ancient Theatre of Philippi

Polis at the House Gardens of Mehmet Ali Pacha, Kavala
Celebrating the 150 years since the birth of the poet C. Cavafy, the Greek journalist Maria Houkli presents his poems accompanied on the piano by music composer Thodoris Ikonomou.
