Gialiskari Village Ikaria: The small seaside village of Gialiskari is located in the northern part of the island, west of Evdilos. The village is surrounded by verdant pine trees and dense forests and has about 165 inhabitants most of whom are engaged in fishing and agriculture. Gialiskari is one of the oldest fishing villages in Ikaria. Despite the modern tourist facilities, the area retains its authentic and unspoilt character.
A traditional feast is held on the 15th of August (the day of the Virgin) at Gialiskari, during which local food and wine is served and people dance until dawn. Numerous shops, hotels, pensions, cafes and taverns can be found in this village.
