The Easter Rocket War of Chios Greece: Vrondados, also called Vrontada, is a village located about 5 km north of Chios Town. It is center of the Municipality of Homeroupolis. Places to be visited are the village's windmills, the churches of Agios Stephanos, Agios Markos, and Panagia Erythiani, and the tomb of the Greek writer, Yannis Psycharis. On the top of a hill stands the Monastery of Saint Stefan amongst peaceful surroundings.
Easter is the best period to visit this enchanting village. In Vrontada, you experience the unique Easter mass. After the mass, the two parishes of Panagia Erythiani and Agios Markos revel in fireworks called Rocket Fires or Rocket War.
