Location: Siana

Kymisala Tower lies on the west coast of Rhodes, about 67 kilometers from Rhodes Town. This stone watchtower consists of a rectangular construction with bastions and remains relatively well-preserved to this day.

The tower was built in 1476, during the rule of the Knights of Saint John. After the fall of Constantinople and the raids on Rhodes by the Mamluks of Egypt, the Knights set out to fortify the castles on the island and construct some new ones. Thus the Kymisala Tower was erected, as a way to further defend the island from the growing Ottoman threat.

Today the tower is for the most part still standing strong, serving as a beacon of the rich history of Rhodes and a reminder of its storied past. Those interested in visiting can marvel at this piece of cultural heritage, while also taking in the lush green scenery and some marvelous views of the sea.
