Musical Fiesta on Rhodes

The people of Rhodes, Greece, attended a grand musical fiesta held between September, 19th and October, 2nd, 2007. The Classical Music Festival was held at the Palace of the Grand Master, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Rhodes. The opening concert of the festival was performed by the renowned cellist Wen-Sinn Yang, who played the works of Bach, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Sergei Rachmaninov, accompanied at the piano by Ferline Studi.
Some of the defining musical compositions of the 20th century were performed on September, 24th, by the classical music ensemble Berlin Soloists Quartet, with the accompaniment of pianist Wolfgang Glemser. On September, 26th, Ensemble Accentus of Austria gave a captivating performance of the religious Sephardic melodies of the 15th century Spanish Jews. The Music in Rhodes Festival came to a successful conclusion on October 2nd with a concert by the Gratz Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra from Austria.
