A new exhibition is running these days at the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes and will last until November 15th, 2015. The exhibition is entitled Rhodes: A Greek island at the Gates to the East, 15th-5th c. BC and actually consists part of the exhibition that took place at the Louvre Museum from November 2014 until February 2015.
The exhibits come from various European museums, including the Louvre, the British Museum, the museum of Copenhagen and surely the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, and were excavated on the island from the 19th century until today.
This interesting exhibition actually aims to show the central position of Rhodes and its connection to both the European and the Eastern civilizations. In fact, many artifacts from Middle East, Cyprus, Palestine, Egypt and other eastern Mediterranean countries have been found in excavations on the island.
The exhibition will be hosted in a large room at the first floor of Rhodes Archaeological Museum. Among the exhibits are a Mycenaean torch, necklaces and other jewelry, small statuettes, parts of vases and others.
