The Monastery of Panagia in the region of Livadi Kalogiron lies in the northern part of Patmos, just 1.5 km from Lambi Beach. This religious structure is surrounded by lush greenery and is close to the shore, offering panoramic views of the glistening waters of the Aegean. Because of its secluded location, it is also afforded a highly serene and quiet atmosphere.
Before the construction of the monastery in 1798, the site used to be an ascetic spot. The central church was built in the Byzantine style and features a prominent dome. Inside, visitors will take note of the beautiful marble floor and enchanting iconostasis. The icons found here depict significant religious scenes of Jesus Christ, Theotokos Eleousa, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and John the Baptist. Between the iconostasis and the pulpit, there is a relief of a two-headed eagle.
