Introduction & General Information

Patmos island is famous for its religious past since it is in Patmos that Saint John the Divine wrote the Book of Revelation (the Apocalypse). For many years, the island was a place of pilgrimage for the Catholic and the Orthodox.

In the 1960s, Patmos became for a while a favorite destination for hippies, who were trying to experience the spiritual vibes of the island. Today, this mountainous island and its small coves attract sun lovers who wish to dive in its crystalline waters.

Chora and Skala are the main villages, while around the island there are many relaxing beaches to swim. All around the island, visitors can find nice churches spread here and there.
