Patmos Tourism

Patmos is famous as a religious destination. This is an extremely important destination for the Orthodox pilgrims as Saint John chose this island to write the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse). Patmos is crowned by the Medieval Monastery of Saint John which is a pole of attraction for thousands of Orthodox visitors. In fact, Patmos tourism is based a lot on religious travelers. Although tourism in Patmos has developed a lot over the last years, the island remains very traditional.

Despite the strict character of Patmos, it is pretty much developed with great tourist facilities. Tourists can obtain information from the tourist office in Chora concerning their stay there. Tourist police are also available at the busiest spots of the island, therefore they should feel safe.
