Karpathos transportation
About transportation in Karpathos island, Greece

The island of Karpathos has a sufficient good road network allowing all means of transport like local buses, taxis and private vehicles. There are many ways to visit the mountainous and seaside locations of the island.

Public transportation is highly preferred by tourists. There are regular buses linking the capital of Pigadia with the popular beaches and villages of southern Karpathos, like Arkasa and Amoopi, including the beaches at the west coast. There is also bus connecting Pigadia with the mountainous villages of Karpathos. The central bus station in Pigadia is located opposite the Supermarket Gergatsoulis and there you can find the updated bus schedule.

Many taxis are available at the centre of the town. Their cost is higher than the cost of a bus ticket but you will arrive at your destination much faster. Taxis can also be found outside the port and the airport, any time a ferry or plane arrives.

Car rentals

Renting a car in Karpathos is a good idea to enjoy the island at your own pace. Just take care because some roads on the island are track. Rental agencies can be found in Pigadia, Arkassa and many tourist spots of the island.
