North Face Climbing Festival 2014

Oct 09, 2014 — Oct 12, 2014 • Category: Events

The third edition of The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival, co-organized by The North Face Journal and the Municipality of Kalymnos, is taking place in Kalymnos island on October 9th, 2014, and will last for four days, until October 12th. The North Face Climbing Festival brings together professional and amateur climbers from every corner of the earth, offering a unique experience to climbing enthusiasts.
This year the Festival hosts legendary climbers of the 1980s and 1990s, including John Dunne from the UK, Jean-Baptiste Tribout from France, Yuji Hirayama from Japan, Beat Kammerlander and Gerhard Horhager from Austria, Maurizio Manolo Zanolla from Italy and Patxi Arocena from Spain.
The program of this year's festival is rich, repeating some events from the previous editions, such as Climbing Marathon Competitions, a seaside Legends Story Telling Night and the Climber's Beach Party, and adding a Deep Water Solo Boat Trip with The North Face athletes.
The North Face has also taken a new initiative for the climbers and the local community of Kalymnos with a program called 1 climber=1 bolt, which means that for each registered attendee one potentially old bolt on the island will be replaced with a new one, making climbing safer.
