General information

Kantouni Beach Kalymnos: The long sandy beach of Kantouni is located 5 km north west of Pothia, the capital of Kalymnos, at a short walking distance from Panormos. It is the favourite beach of the locals thus it can get a bit crowded sometimes.

Kantouni is a popular resort that lies around the crystalline beach with the golden sand. Behind the beach are some nice accommodations, taverns and cafes amidst the lush green forests.

The beach offers gorgeous views to the imposing mountain where stands the beautiful Holy Cross Monastery. In close distance is the beach of Panormos. Local buses have daily connections to Kantouni village.

Good base for trips

Kantouni is a popular resort on the western side of Kalymnos. Probably the most popular resort in Kalymnos together with Panormos and Massouri, but do not have the picture of a crowded tourist place. Certainly all resorts in Kalymnos are a lot quieter than in other islands. The beach is not very large but it is organized and has some delicious taverns by the seaside. The water is clean, I could stay in the sea for hours and usually we would swim till a small neighboring island opposite Kantouni. A quite long way in fact! Lots of accommodation in Kantouni and some clubs at the far end of the village. Regular buses to the capital and other beaches in the area and also lots of bike rentals. A good base for trips in the inland.
