Although Tinos is mostly famous as a religious destination for the Greeks, it certainly has all the characteristics of a Cycladic island: the traditional architecture, the lovely beaches, and the wild landscape. The most interesting sightseeing in Tinos is the Monastery of Virgin Mary Evangelistria, which is believed to be a miracle-working church. This is why many pilgrims come to this Monastery on their knees from the port of Tinos Town. In general, the island has many monasteries, some still working and others abandoned. The most picturesque village in Tinos is Pyrgos, while a drive around will bring visitors to many other nice villages and crystal beaches.
