Tinos Marble Quarries

One of the most impressive sights in Tinos is its famous marble quarries that are scattered all around the island, with the most significant ones being located on the northern side of the island.
Important note: the marble "pool" is very difficult to access.
Marble and slate exportation has had a major role in the local economy ever since Antiquity and marbles originating from Tinos shaped the art and architecture of many places in Greece and beyond, from ancient temples and sculptures to the use of marble in contemporary design.
By visiting a quarry, you will have the opportunity to admire the marbles of Tinos in their rawest form and admire the unique geological profile of the Cycladic island.
