Housed in the southwestern wing of the Evangelistria Church building complex, the Art Gallery of Tinos houses over 120 works by some of the greatest Greek and international artists. It was established in 1961, on the basis of a private collection donated by Athanasios Papadopoulos, and features representative works from the Italian and Ionian Renaissance, the Flemish painters, classicism and French romanticism, as well as more contemporary artistic movements.
Visitors have the chance to see original works by the great Tinian artists Nikiforos Lytras and Nikolaos Gyzis, as well as by a plethora of other Greek painters, like Ioannis Altamouras, Konstantinos Volanakis and Konstantinos Parthenis. Moreover, there are copies of masterpieces by such prominent European artists as Velasquez, Veronese, Murillo, Rembrandt, Rubens and Titian.
The last part of the exhibition comprises elaborate pieces of furniture, Venetian mirrors, Viennese porcelain pieces and other remarkable decorative items used in the previous centuries.
