KTEL Buses
Public buses (KTEL) are the most convenient and affordable way of moving around when traveling on a budget. The central bus station is situated in Tinou-Kallonis Street, within less than 300 meters from the port, and there are a few lines available, connecting the Town with many of the major villages, including Tripotamos, Kambos, Tarabados, Kardiani, Isternia, Pyrgos, as well as with Panormos Beach. Other routes are also available, going to Kalloni, Agios Ioannis Porto, Falatados and many more places of interest. Tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver, but it is important to bear in mind that itineraries are not very frequent.
For further information about the routes and timetables, you can consult the bus company’s official website at www.kteltinou.gr.
Taxis
Taxis are a more expensive option when compared to buses, but they are faster and more flexible. However, though the distance between places of interest in the southern part of Tinos are relatively short, many of the island’s traditional settlements are more remote, which will accordingly affect the price. Taxis can be hailed at the port, but for greater convenience, it is recommended to pre-book your private transfer. To do so, you can call on any of the following numbers: 0030 22830 26000, 0030 22830 22470, 0030 694 5994632.
Car Rentals
Since distances around Tinos can be great, renting a car is the most convenient way to move around the island at your own pace, without having to depend on taxis or on the availability of public transport. Having your own vehicle will allow you to create your own itinerary and unlock hidden gems that you would not be able to access otherwise. There are plenty of car rental agencies around the port, so finding the vehicle that best suits your needs won’t be a problem.
It is also good to know that some hotels may also offer shuttle service to and from the port. To arrange a port transfer (if available), you should contact your accommodation prior to arrival. This service is usually provided at an additional charge, but, in some cases, it may be available for free.
Port Facilities
As it is located within walking distance from the heart of Tinos Town, the port offers easy access to a wide range of facilities, including shops, taverns, cafes, bars and various accommodation options.
At Pantanassis Square, around 500 meters from Tinos Port, you will also find a couple of travel agencies where you can get your pre-booked ferry tickets if your company does not offer web check-in, or buy them on-site.
