General information

The picturesque fishing settlement of Poseidonia in Syros is also known as Dellagrazia. The village took its main name from the ancient god of the sea, Poseidon, while it owes its alternative name to the Catholic Church Santa Maria Della Grazia.

Located 10 kilometers southwest of Ermoupolis, Poseidonia is adorned with lush gardens, pine trees, and beautiful neoclassical houses, which testify about the past nobility and the Belle Epoque of Syros during the 19th century.
Poseidonia used to be the favorite place of the wealthy class who built their retreat mansions there; that explains the several beautiful buildings that still stand today.

Poseidonia also has a partly-organized beach with golden sand and azure waters called Voulgari Beach, which attracts hundreds of visitors every summer. It is also located near other charming beaches, like Finikas Beach and Agathopes Beach.
